Frequently Asked Questions

My Cabinet Factory (MCF) is excited to transform your outdated and nonfunctional spaces into your favorite hangout spots, and we know the right cabinets make all the difference.

We offer all-wood custom cabinetry with a variety of upgrade options that aren't offered everywhere. And we provide you with world-class, personal service throughout your entire project.

MCF knows purchasing custom cabinets can feel like a big step, and we want to help make the process as simple and enjoyable as possible. To help you through this process, we have answered some of the most commonly asked questions below.

Design and Planning

What are the first steps in the design process?

Visiting our showroom is a great way to begin. When you are here, we will discuss design and layout, establish and budget and timeline, and you will make preliminary cabinet selections.

What sort of products do you manufacture?

At My Cabinet Factory, we can make something for every room in the house. Our talented craftsmen can build any custom piece, offering customers virtually limitless options. We offer kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, mudroom cabinetry, laundry room cabinets, wine room, bar, entertainment centers and more. Every piece is built specifically for you!

Do you provide design services?

Yes, MCF provides design services. Whether you are fully committed to starting your project with a 50% deposit or you are requesting a preliminary drawing with a 10% design deposit, My Cabinet Factory will make a design specific to you and your project needs. No matter which deposit route you take, we include a site visit, a door sample, and your project designs. We provide you with drawings that include 3D renderings and elevation views to show you how your design will look in real life before the cabinets are built and installed.

How much do custom cabinets cost?

My Cabinet Factory knows custom cabinets are an investment in the beauty and style of your home. For MCF, it’s important to understand how long you plan to stay in your current house. Once we know that, we can work with you to select the best cabinet series for your project and budget.

Do you visit my home before we move forward?

Yes! After you submit a deposit, a My Cabinet Factory team member will visit your home to take design measurements and discuss any remaining questions. As an alternative (prior to your submitting a deposit), we can schedule an in-person visit for a flat, location-based fee in order to discuss your project ideas on site.

Is demolition included in MCF processes?

As needed, MCF can include a price estimate for demolition of your current cabinets. In fact, our installation crew is skilled enough to build walls and install drywall if requested. Just let us know if this is something we need to plan for within your project.

Production and Ordering

How long does it take from the time our cabinets are ordered to when they are delivered (i.e. how long is production time)?

The production process and timing vary depending on our current workload at MCF and your individual project specifications. Our MCF sales staff will be happy to provide an estimated lead-time specific to your cabinet order and design plan.

What is the MCF payment schedule?

There are two options to choose from regarding your payment schedule.

  • The first option is an initial 50% deposit, which adds your name to our production list and allows us to begin design work and to schedule a site visit for measurements. This includes two showroom appointments and a door sample for color and profile. Then, 40% of the remaining amount is due upon delivery and completion of cabinet installation. The final 10% payment is due after MCF completes our final trip to adjust doors and drawers, touch up any nicks or dings, and complete any remaining “punch list” items.
  • The second option is an initial 10% design deposit, which includes a site visit and showroom appointment. Then, your 40% production deposit puts you in line for cabinet production. This includes additional design work (as needed), a door sample for approval of color and profile, and showroom appointments. Then, 40% of the remaining amount is due upon delivery and completion of cabinet installation. The final 10% payment is due after MCF completes our final trip to complete any remaining “punch list” items.

How long is my price estimate good for?

Our price estimates are good for 30 days. After that time, we would be happy to discuss any updated details and pricing as needed.

What forms of payment do you accept?

My Cabinet Factory accepts all forms of payment - cash, check, and all major credit cards.

Installation and Adjustments

Who installs my cabinets?

We do! The same skilled MCF technicians that build your cabinets also install them. Anyone visiting your home from MCF has passed a background check and is a well-known member of our team. This connection between the craftsmen who make your cabinets and who installs them is just another way MCF is different from our competitors.

How do I schedule the delivery and installation?

About a week before your potential delivery and installation date, a member of our MCF team will call to work out a schedule that fits your calendar.

When are my cabinets ready for delivery and installation?

After your cabinets pass an inspection from our MCF foreman and project manager, your cabinets are ready for installation. Our team of MCF experts arrives at your residence prepared with all of the tools necessary for a successful installation.

What if adjustments need to be made after installation?

We allow your cabinets to settle for one week after installation. At that time, our MCF foreman will perform a quality walkthrough and work with you to create a punch list of final details to address. If you have cabinet doors or drawers that need to be tightened or any paint that needs to be touched up, MCF makes a final trip to your home to put the finishing touches on your cabinets so every detail is just as you imagined.

Products Available and Cabinet Construction

What colors are available for MCF cabinets?

MCF is not limited to any color list, and we can match any color you request. If you have a color in mind and provide a sample, our paint suppliers can color match your favorite paint or stain exactly. We can also match any existing cabinetry colors already in your home. Check out our Cabinet Series descriptions for more details.

What kind of hardware do the cabinets come with? Do you offer soft close drawers and doors?

All of our cabinetry comes with soft close hardware. Our Signature, Craftsman, and Master Craftsman series all come standard with Blum soft closing hinges and drawer guides. MCF provides the functional hardware for your cabinets, such as hinges and drawer guides. You provide/order any decorative hardware (like knobs and pulls). You can install the decorative hardware yourself (after cabinet installation), or we can coordinate scheduling so MCF can install your selected decorative hardware along with the cabinets.

What materials are used to make the cabinets?

All MCF cabinet lines are constructed entirely from lumber and plywood. In fact, most of MCF’s plywood and lumber is locally sourced and from Appalachia. You will not find any medium-density fiberboard in our custom cabinetry. Within each line, we offer a selection of wood species from which to choose.

What are the differences in construction/features between the My Cabinet Factory cabinet series?

MCF offers a variety of options to fit your design aesthetic, taste preferences and functionality needs. Check out our Cabinet Series descriptions for more details.

Are My Cabinet Factory cabinets covered by any warranty?

Yes! Click for more details on our warranty for our Prime series and our warranty for Signature, Craftsman and Master Craftsman series.
